“And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.” Mark 9:29 (KJV)

This upcoming week (June 2nd-9th), we are calling our church to a week of Prayer and Fasting! We are calling a Solemn Assembly from Joel 2. There are a number of types of fasts for different purposes in Scripture:

Breakthroughs, Healing & Guidance - Ezra 8:21-23
Confession & Repentance - Nehemiah 1:4; 9:1-2; Ezra 9:3-15
Humbling Oneself before God - 2 Samuel 12:16; 21-23
Protection - Esther 4:15-17; Ezra 8:21-23

This Sunday in preparation for the Solemn Assembly, I will be breaking down 7 difference specific types of fasts and their purposes for what is needed. Fasting on whatever level simply has to do with two things:

1.   Dying to the flesh and allowing the “spirit man” within us to thrive and hear from Heaven
2.   Becoming more visible to God in the thing or things we are petitioning Him for.

There are different types of fasts:
Complete Fast – 3 days for healing (no food or water);
Solemn Fast - Undetermined time (no food);
Mourning Fast – 7 days (No food);
Daniel Fast - 10-21 days (vegetables, nuts & water);
Battle Fast – 1 day (no food or water);
Dominion Fast (40 days (no food);
Breakthrough Fast – Undetermined time (vesting various things).
There are some things that can only be realized through prayer AND fasting. Those moments when we need a deliverance and/or breakthrough and when we are not seeing the answer, it’s in fasting that we receive it.

God is working in your life and around you today. Sometimes our flesh can become so strong that we cannot see it or even recognize it when it may be right in front of our face. We need revival and an increase in the anointing in our midst. Doing the same thing over and over doesn’t yield to new things. I am encouraging you to consider stepping into this week of prayer and fasting with us, whether you are able to come to the corporate meeting times or not. We will open this Assembly on Sunday at 6 pm and then we will be meeting daily, Monday through Friday at 12 pm and 6 pm. On Friday, we will close out the Assembly together with a meal at the 6 pm time.

I am looking forward to hearing what God speaks to us this week and what He does in your life!

Have a blessed week,

Pastor Eric
